Stability, on and off the pitch, is important for the growth of a football club.

I was a little worried my team Sheffield Wednesday would not have that this season, with the new owner coming in.

Steve Evans

When Milan Mandaric was running the club, we knew that he, along with Stuart Gray, were a safe bet in the Championship. Whether or not we would have pushed for promotion with a bit of investment, who knows but we knew what we were going to get.

But everything so far under Dejphon Chansiri has been solid and there were no murmurings over manager Carlos Carvalhal’s position even after we hit a bit of a sticky patch.

You can’t grow if there is unrest behind the scenes and that is what there seems to be at Leeds.

My mum is a big Leeds fan and she is scratching her head at the moment after they sacked Uwe Rosler and named former Rotherham United manager Steve Evans as their new head coach. Evans is owner Massimo Cellino’s sixth head coach since the Italian’s takeover in April 2014.

If that wasn’t enough, Cellino has been banned from running the club by the Football League for the second time in a year. It just seems like absolute chaos.

Evans is a bit of a marmite figure. He is one of those people who you love when he is in charge of your club but when he is in charge of another you think he is an absolute wally! What was he doing wearing the sombrero and flip-flops at Elland Road last season?! Now he is managing them, that picture will comeback to haunt him!

I am friends with a quite few Leeds fans and not had one positive response yet to Evans’ appointment. The average reply is ‘what the heck is going on?’

Cellino is one of the most colourful characters in the Football League and Evans is probably the most colourful managers so I’m not exactly sure how that is going to work. It could rival Brian Clough’s reign at Leeds where he managed them only 44 days.

I hope Leeds turn things around. I want to see big clubs like them and Wednesday get back into the Premier League. (As long as Wednesday get there first!)The more teams doing well in this region, the better.

*Well done to England number one Laura Massaro, who won her second US Open last weekend. It is an amazing achievement and she beat eight-time world champion Nicol David in the quarter-finals which shows how tough her draw was.
