Harworth in good form after friendlies

Harworth Colliery will go into their first Central Midlands League North game of the season at Brodsworth Welfare on Saturday in good spirits after an impressive pre season.

The management team of Lee Danysz and Mark Latham has built a decent squad after a disappointing end to last season that saw them finish tenth.

A 4-1 defeat against Northern Counties East League Ollerton was followed by a 3-2 defeat at Sheffield County Senior League Wombwell Main.

Harworth fielded two different sides in each half of the matches.

A more settled side defeated Bottesford, from two divisions above Harworth.

Higher division opponents, Armthorpe Welfare, also visited Scrooby Road and were fortunate to return home with a draw after a last-minute equaliser.

The hosts had been far the better side for most of the game, but conceded two late goals after several changes were made late in the game.

All is looking well for Harworth, but when the real action starts this Saturday three points are a must if they are to mount a challenge this season.
