Fourth loss in a row for Worksop Town in derby defeat by Rainworth

A late goal from Kyle Jordan was not enough to prevent fading Worksop Town sinking to a 2-1 local derby defeat at the hands of visiting Rainworth MW in the NCEL this afternoon.

The Wrens went ahead on 15 minutes as a free-kick on the right hand side came in from Matthew Sykes and Matt Plant’s header flew into the top left corner.

It was 2-0 on 64 minutes after a foul by Henshaw gave Rainworth a penalty.

Matthew Sykes makes no mistake from the spot, firing into the left hand corner despite Kennedy’s despairing dive.

Jordan pulled one back on 82 minutes as he slid the ball home from a few yards out after an attempted Henshaw shot.

But it wasn’t enough to prevent a fourth successive defeat and fifth game without a win.

The game at Sandy Lane attracted a crowd of 348.
