A well attended Worksop Town end of season presentation evening was unsurprisingly dominated by one man – Leon Mettam.
The Tigers skipper walked away with more trophies than he could carry, including the Worksop Guardian Player of the Year award.
Having scored 50 goals, it was no shock to anyone at Langold’s Royal Legion when he also picked up the Home Player of the Year gong, voted for by the fans, the Players’ Player of the Year trophy and the ‘golden boot’ for top goalscorer.
Never short of a few words to say, Mettam delivered a memorable speech declaring his love for boss Mark Shaw, the staff, players and supporters of the club.
Former Nottingham Forest winger Josh Thomas was selected as the Young Player of the Year, taking home the President’s Trophy.
Thomas joined the club in January and made 10 appearances, scoring his first goal as a Tiger in the final league game of the season against Frickley.
The supporters made forward Jack Muldoon the Away Player of the Year for his performances on the club’s travels.
Muldoon had an excellent campaign both up front and on the wing, scoring 21 goals in 51 appearances.
The Most Improved Player of the Year, in somewhat of a surprise selection, went to Conor Higginson.
Right-back Alex Pursehouse was the Tiger Chat Player of the Season
Lofty striker Tom Denton took the Social Media Goal of the Season award for the volley that made it 100 league goals for the season.
