Dinnington Town were beaten 1-0 by Sherwood Colliery after they failed to come back from an early setback.
Dinnington lined up with the same side that played so well last week against Askern and will have been in confident mood ahead of the game.
The opening five minutes looked promising, yet Town fell behind on nine minutes.
A corner from the right found Brad Middleloop unmarked at the far post and he volleyed home.
Town pressed forward and on 12 minutes Josh Sheppard went close and moments later a goal bound header from Kyle Spooner was somehow saved by Perry Cranston. Town keeper Cliff Jackson was mostly redundant, but did pull off a great save from Craig Paynes shot on 25 minutes.
Josh Sheppard was fouled by the home keeper moments later, but the referee only awarded a yellow card and the free-kick came to nothing.
Town were now having the lions share of possession and a Kyle Daly effort was held at the second attempt by the home keeper.
In fact the Kyle Daly/Josh Sheppard partnership was again working well and Brad Parker was also making inroads into the penalty area.
Josh Sheppard again fired just over the bar from 20 yards on 35 minutes.
The second half saw Town dictate the play but they just couldn’t find the net.
A pinpoint cross from Josh Sheppard saw Kyle Wesley head just over the bar on 67 minutes as time began to run out for Town.
