St Anne’s pulled off the shock of this year’s Worksop Guardian Champion of Champions tournament, when they took the scalp of reigning title holders Carr Hill

It was the scoreline that took everybody by surprise, as St Anne’s led 3-0 by the interval but expected one of Carr Hill’s famous comebacks on the resumption.

This looked likely when Alex Wonham reduced the arrears but St Anne’s struck back with two more goals in quick succession with Riley Garfitt (2), Will Bircumshaw, Matthew Beer and Jack Grasby all on the scoresheet in a 5-1 rout.

St Anne’s will now meet Division Two champions, Ryton Park in the final, which is scheduled for 1st May at Harworth.

Ryton finished comfortable winners against a young Priory side and will be looking to make it a double when they compete in the equivalent football tournament for girls.

The Champion of Champions competition for Small Schools will feature Ranskill against Everton.

In the semi-finals Ranskill were too strong for Leverton when an Elliott Crowe hat-trick and further goals from Kyle Simpson (2), Tim Scott (2) and Kai Wyld eventually overwhelmed the Division Seven winners who gamely fought back through Jaden Burton and Rudi Campbell.

Everton’s defeat of Division Eight winners, Sturton-le-Steeple was a much closer affair with goals from Isaac Bailey and Matthew Taylor having the edge on a single reply from Dominic Murray.
