WORKSOP Town have secured another marquee pre-season friendly, with the visit of Sheffield United.
The recently relegated Blades will visit Worksop on 12th July for a game that is sure to attract a bumper crowd to the Windsor Foodservice Stadium.
It will be the first time Tigers have battled with the Bramall Lane men since 2007, when Worksop Town lost 2-0 in front of 1,679.
Martin McIntosh’s new-look squad will host the other big Sheffield club, the Owls on 16th July.
Pre-season will begin, however, with a trip to Harrogate Railway Athletic on 9th July.
After the two glamour ties, Tigers will travel to Sheffield FC on 19th July, Staveley on 30th July, and then former landlords Gainsborough Trinity on 6th August.
There may be one or two more additions to Worksop Town’s pre-season schedule over the coming days.
McIntosh says his squad will be back in training before the end of this month.
“We’re back on 23rd June, and we’ll be training at Manton.”
“If we’re playing Sheffield United on 12th July then I need players who are in shape before that.”
