A Worksop schoolgirl has helped Doncaster Belles to a national football title.
Jamie-lea Grace, formerly a prolific goalscorer for Worksop Girls Club, was part of the Belles Under 13s side who captured the ESF Championship at the University of Warwick’s football centre.
The youngster, an Outwood Academy Valley student, won the regional championships with the Doncaster club at Butlines in Skegness earlier in the year.
And that qualified them for the 2014 national finals.
The team scored an impressive 12 goals to become champions without losing a match.
Ian Trevillion, manager of Doncaster Belles said: “The whole team is thrilled with our victory, what a weekend it was.”
“There aren’t any plans for an open top bus parade just yet but I’m sure we’ll find a way to celebrate.”
Grace was picked up by the Belles after impressing for her local club in Worksop, for whom she netted an incredible 46 goals in 22 games in her very first season.
