Bassetlaw Schools Football: Steeple chase another title win

Sturton-le-Steeple are reproducing the form that took them to the Bassetlaw Schools FA Division Seven title last year.

They started the new season with a convincing win over Haggonfields.

And followed that by taking the larger share of a 10-goal thriller against Blyth, when Charlie Wright, George Cornes, George Dimmock and Rachel Warner contributed their six goals.

George Cornes, Jake Sykes and Charlie Wright were also on target when they travelled to Beckingham who earned a point through an Ethan Fretwell brace and Archie Housham’s goal.

Haggonfields found winning form with goals from Oliver Elgy and Jack Whittaker against Gamston, but then fell short against Ranby in spite of Oliver Elgy and Luke Oakden both finding the target.

Leverton were on top goalscoring form when Adam Capsticks, Ryan Boddy, Thomas Jee and Rudy Campbell demolished Tuxford and East Markham.

But a single goal from Adam Capsticks could not prevent a 2-1 defeat by Dunham, whose match winning goals came from Alistair Spink.
