Firbeck dominated Division One rivals Clumber Park in a 111-run win to take local bragging rights.
The visitors won the toss and batted first on a very green Clumber wicket,
This seemed to be a great decision as the aggressive opening partnership of Cook and Dutton raced to 24, before Cook (15) nicked behind off Morris (2 for 16).
This brought in Ward (11) for his debut and he put on 59 with Dutton (40).
But the former fell very unfortunately when a quick delivery off the ever impressive bowling of G.Beard (3 for 19) kept very low and hit him in front of all three.
Ward followed two balls later off the bowling of Skinner (3 for 44).
Hubball( 24) steadied the innings but again gave his wicket away to leave the tail vulnerable.
A great captain’s innings from Barker (22) and the young Wallhead (11) on debut helped steer Firbeck to a very competitive 148.
Knowing they had to bowl very well to keep their great start to the season on track, the Firbeck bowlers did not let their skipper down, showing why they are top of the league.
Hubball (2 for 21) got the innings off to a good start, while at the other end Tindle (4 for 16) continued to show why he’s one of the top bowlers in the leagues.
Clumber tried to stage a fight back but with the introduction of Nathan Parry (3 for 0) saw he and Tindle rip the Clumber batting line-up apart, falling from 36 for 2 to 37 all out with only 21 overs gone.
Firbeck celebrated a very significant win.
