Clowne: Road runners in action across the UK

Clowne Road Runners were in action at the Doncaster Town Centre 5km race.

The event is a fast three lap course around the town centre of Doncaster.

This year was the 19th year for this event which started in 1994.

The Vets race attracts top runners from around the region and the course record is shared by Dave Tune and Jason Ward with a time of 14:28, set in 1996 and 2003 respectively.

Clowne had three runners competing in this race and winning the race in 15:42 was top Vet 40’s runner Gareth Lowe, followed by Daniel Page in a time of 16:15 which was a personal best for Dan and a club Gold Standard award effort.

Graham Worsfold finished the course in 18:52, also a new personal best.

Clowne members were also in action among the 1,170 runners at the Northumberland Coastal Run

The race starts on the beach at Beadnell and finishes at Alnmouth, covering 14 beautiful miles of Northumberland coastline.

First home for Clowne was Lewis Banton in 1:29:27.

The Holme Moss Fell run is not for the faint hearted as the race is 17 miles long with over 4,000ft of climbing.

Clowne’s ultra run and fell specialist Simon Gregory completed the course in a time of 3:56:14, taking 19 minutes off his previous time for this race.

Three Clowne members travelled to Long Eaton to run the Long Eaton five mile event, the record for which is held by Clowne’s Andy Ward at 24:27.

Andres Walker (40:58) and Karen Rawson (44:12) both earned club bronze standards, while Dennis Learad (35:43) won Jim Stevenson Trophy as the best male-65.
