BASSETLAW youngsters showed their sporting prowess during the 10th East Midlands Airport Youth Games.
Around 1,000 young people representing the eight districts of Notts competed in 13 featured sports.

Bassetlaw had two triumphs, winning in the Girls football and the Boys table tennis.

The youngsters also won three silver medals in netball (Year 5/6), rugby (Year 7/9) and Girls table tennis, and four bronze medals in angling, netball (Year 7/8) and rugby (Year 5/6).

After the results from all sports were added together, Bassetlaw finished in a commendable third place, behind winners Mansfield.

The main goal for the Youth Games is to find children that are not taking part in regular sport, introduce them to training sessions and a competition, then link them into a community club so that they can train and compete on a more frequent basis.

They can then develop and begin to reach their maximum potential as young sports people.
