JUNIOR fishing fanatics lined Retford's Daiwa Hallcroft complex on Wednesday to compete in the prestigious Annual Inter Schools match.
Ninety-six enthusiastic youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, competed diligently for both Team and Individual trophies, plus bragging rights.

Unfortunately there were a couple of teams who could not make the event due to logistical problems, but the ones who did attend took part in the best fishing witnessed since this event began.

The vast majority of the competitors found the fish most obliging, with many catching a mixture of carp and silvers.

In a close Individual contest, Valley School pupil Reece Nicholson triumphed, netting a hefty total of 36lb 3oz on the Reed pool.
Second place went to Luke Tryner, of Tibshelf School, who fished the Moat pond and bagged an impressive total of 27lb 2oz.

Wickersley's Mark Playforth, bagging 26lb 8oz on the Reed pool, was third.

In the Team contest, Dinnington Comprehensive came out on top, followed by Valley School and Portland School in a close competition.
James Wibberly-List also went home happy. He won the trophy for catching the biggest fish – a whopper at 10lb 4oz.

On hand to present the prizes were double Junior World Champion Matt Godfrey and former Ladies World Champion Sandra Scotthorne.
The competition could not have taken place without the generous donations from both International and local companies, with Daiwa donating over £2,000 of fishing tackle.

Every participant also received a goody bag.

The main local sponsors were Focus on Young People in Bassetlaw, Snak Atak (who donated a large trophy), Glen Foulds (who donated other trophies) and Town Cars of Worksop (who presented the winning school with £100 worth of tackle vouchers).

Other sponsors were Paul Mosgrove Steel Fabrication and B&B Industrial Dismantlers.
