Waleswood 132
Retford 76
WALESWOOD'S first ever game in the top flight of the Bassetlaw League couldn't have been better, picking up maximum points against one of the league favourites, Retford.
Asked to bat first on a damp track, Waleswood got off to a bad start with the loss of Arma Riaz for just one run.
Gareth Davis and Martin Long then began to build the innings.
Their partnership added 43 before Long was next out, caught and bowled by Paul Burton for 13.
Saqib Shah soon followed for one but Asif Azeem joined Davis and they put on 26 before Azeem was trapped LBW to John Musgrove for 14.
Davis finally completed his half century but then fell in the deep of Musgrove.
Next out was Peter Norbury unfortunately run out for nine and slipping trying to return for a second run.
At 99 for 6 the home team needed an injection and it came from Rana Rauf, his 27 helping the total to 132 before Harris was last out with two overs left of their innings.
John Musgrove finishing with 3 for 42, supported by Spooner 2 for 6 and Paul Burton 2 for 16 off 15 overs.
The visitors couldn't have asked for a better start.
Pascal Broadley and Paul Singleton added 36 for the first wicket before the former was trapped LBW to Rana Rauf for just three.
The very next ball Spooner was clean bowled by Rauf and the home side began to believe they were still in the game.
When Singleton was bowled by Saqib Shah for 32, followed by Pattenden LBW for no runs and Savage Bowled for two also by Shah, Retford collapsed to 52 for 5.
Worse was to come for the visitors, after Bowers hit Shah for three fours and pushed the score onto 68.
Rauf produced a devastating hat-trick, bowling quick accurate balls leaving the visitors almost finished.
Shah completed the innings and finished with 5 for 26 off 6.3 overs whilst Rauf finished with 5 for 39 off 10 overs to go with the 27 runs, he hit earlier.
Division ONE
Whitwell 111
Papplewick and Linby 112 for 6
WHITWELL'S batsman got off to a poor start against Papplewick.
Though all the middle order made double figures none were able to go on and build a decent score, though young Aussie import Matt Goodwright impressed by top scoring with 24.
Whitwell's last three were all out for zero and Mark Forrest was left stranded on 19 not out.
Papplewick raced to 63-0 with Indian student Shah hitting a super 46 before Westerby 4-22 from 13 snared him at first slip.
Goodwright 2-32 bowled with fine control and Whitwell responded well in the field to apply pressure to the hosts but ultimately they had set a score that was not defendable.
DIVISION two
Clumber Park 179 for 8
Retford II 77 for 7
DAVE Beard (49) and Jim Delaney (60) got Clumber off to a great start with an opening stand of 95 in 26 overs.
Retford then started to take wickets, with C. Watt 8-0-24-2, J. Matteoli 5-0-27-2 and P.
