WELBECK'S Under 15 team produced an excellent performance at the weekend to go second in their division, just behind Wheatley Hills.
They beat Beauchief 5-1, with top strings Kieran White and Mark Firth winning their singles and combining to win their doubles.

Ben Drabble won his singles, brother Joe lost his, but they won their doubles to confirm a convincing victory.

The m
idweek mixed B team had a successful night, beating Stocksbridge B team 3-1 to maintain their position at the top of Division Three. Sam Richardson, John Flavell, Jackie Barnett and Miriam Parker put in a fine performance.

The midweek mixed A team lost a tight match against Millhouses.

Steve White and Sarah Hill, Sean Ryan and Angela Parkes both beat the second pair but lost to a strong first pair so the match was lost on the games countback.

The men's first team went down 7-2 to Hallam Grange.

Captain Steve White and Sean Ryan battled well to win the only two rubbers.

The ladies team also lost 6-12 in sets with first pair Lorraine Walker and Cath Fulton winning five of their six sets but only one set was won by the other two pairs.

It has been a tough season for both first teams and unfortunately it looks like both will be going back down to Division Two.
