WORKSOP teenager Sam Kirby displayed some sparkling form at the Forest Town Track League, taking top spot with 67 points.
The Retford Wheeler displaced his teammate Alan Hazard, who has missed the last two weeks of racing.

Later in the week, competing in The League International road race around Harworth, Kirby was one of nine riders who broke away from their handica
p group after two laps and stayed away from their pursuers for the remainder of the race.

It culimated in a tight finish for first and second place, Kirby just missing out by inches.

The finish can be seen by logging on to www.nmrrl.org.uk

And at the weekend he was again in competition, on the Darley Moor circuit in a 36 mile event, finishing in the first 15 after a group of six riders made good their race winning break.

The junior events at Forest Town track saw another clean sweep for Matt Waters, who gained first place in the one mile scratch race, Devil, and the Italian Pursuit, extending his lead in the junior league with 105 points.

In the senior league Graeme Waters took second place in the one lap flying start time trial, Sam Kirby was third in the Devil, and fourth in the 10 lap scratch event. Paul Austin was fourth in the one mile scratch race.

Tony Keyworth recorded a respectable 24 minutes 52 seconds in the 10 mile time trial held on the Hadfield Woodhouse course, while Paul Austin chose to ride in the CDLCA 25 mile time trial on the Etwall course, recording an excellent 56 minutes 12 seconds for a life time best.

Last Sunday's club run was the monthly ride aimed at new riders.

Three new riders joined 17 of the regulars for a short ride around the Trent side lanes before refreshment at Misterton.

The club run this Sunday will be to Cleethorpes, meet in the market square at the earlier time of 8am.

The route will be fairly flat until reaching the Lincolnshire Wolds, the distance is about 112 miles and only recommended for the experienced rider.

Participants can expect to be back in Retford for approximately 4.30pm.
