AS promised in last week's column we are starting with a report on the annual general meeting of the Worksop and District AA which was held on Thursday 1st May.
An issue of interest to any Association members and pleasure anglers was the decision to peg prices on all association waters and to keep the price of membership (Worksop Book) the same for all categories of members (seniors £20, senior citizens £10 and juniors £5.

Another item that created a lot of interest was the decision for the Association to withdraw its membership from the Witham Joint Alliance from next season (June 16th 2009 ).

We are led to believe that any angler wishing to maintain membership of the joint alliance can still obtain membership by purchasing a Boston book over the counter at the Riverside Tackle Shop at Tattershall Bridge (01526 344660).

Other items of interest were the appointment of two new additions to the fold.

First was former Fish O Mania champion Ian Turner who takes over the captain's role of the senior squad and next was the rubber stamping of Neil Nicholson in the role of junior team coach/manager after taking over the reins from Glenn Foulds.

Although we know that Glenn will be a hard act to follow we are sure that Neil will give 100 per cent to ensure the continuing success of the squad.

A lifetime membership was awarded to Ray Stanley for his stirling efforts in maintaining the Association waters on the Chesterfield Canal.

We can now confirm full participation from every one of the area's schools for the inter schools competition which will be held on Hallcroft on 16th July, with a full complement of 120 anglers on the day this again is one of the biggest events in the national junior angling calendar.

The final touches have now been finalised for the junior mini series with the first match being held on 24th of this month.

Worksop's three tackle dealers inform us that at the time of writing there are still a few tickets available so if you are interested please contact them directly or contact Stuart or Roger on the numbers at the top of the page.

Unfortunately after an intial flurry of interest in the deep water wrecking trip mentioned in previous columns, we have only eight of the 12 anglers needed to run such a trip at a reasonable cost, so we are putting things on hold for the time being.

Worksop Piscatorials have appointed a new club secretary in the guise of Ivor Jones who replaces outgoing stalwart Tony Payne who was assisted by his wife Denise.

We would like to wish Ivor well in his role and hope Denise and Tony's dream move to Austrailia goes without a hitch and you still send us reports from the other side of the world.

Members of the Piscatorial can obtain their membership books from Ken Wards Sports on Carlton Road as soon as they have been issued.

Ivor contacted us with his first information as club secretary to remind all members of the club's first match of the season on the High School length of the Chesterfield Canal, meeting at the lay-by at 8.30 am.
