THE US Open at Bethpage State Park in New York finally came to an end for Worksop golfer Lee Westwood today.
Torrential rain had forced the tournament to continue into a fifth day, for the first time since 1983, and Westwood's campaign came to an end a few minutes ago.

A two over par opening round of 72 was followed by a brilliant 66, which left Westwood firmly in contention for his first major win.

But a disappointing 74 in the third round on Sunday, and 73 in the final round, which was played on Sunday night and resumed today, saw him drop to five over for the tournament.

Westwood currently lies tied for 24th position, nine shots behind American Lee Glover who is still out on the course.
