HARWORTH'S Dean Hipwell and the CDH Racing team came back across the Pennines happy after a good finish in the British Supersport Cup at Oulton Park.
Hipwell was hindered in qualifying, whichwas a lottery thanks to the weather.

Sunday's first session was cloudy and wet which hampered the team with a wrong choice of tyre, which saw Hipwell in 14th place.

For the second session later in the day the track had dried out which meant the team had to set the bike up again, this time with better success.

Hipwell managed to better his earlier times and put the Atherton Godfrey Yamaha in eighth place on the grid in the Supersport Cup and 29th overall in the main race.

The race got away in dry but cloudy conditions with Hipwell getting a good start only to run out of track on the second corner, leaving him adrift in last place.

Fortunately the race was stopped for a separate incident, and at the restart he was on the back row.

On the first lap Hipwell moved up the order from 34th at the start to 28th as he crossed the start and finish line.

By the end of the second lap he had moved up another three places into 25th spot.

Some slick riding and out braking manoeuvres took him up to 22nd.

Hipwell only managed to hold this position for one lap as the rider behind, Marty Nutt who has a wealth of experience in the British Superbike Class, forced his way past.

The Harworth youngster maintained this overall postion for the remainder of the race and came home in fifth place in the Supersport Cup and twenty third overall.
