SHEFFIELD BASKETBALL LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
Worksop 53
Fat Lads 50
WORKSOP hit a club record seven three-pointers as they shot their way to victory over the Fat Lads in their latest Sheffield League encounter.

Ian Birdsall scored Worksop's opening five points as they raced into an 8-0 lead.

The Fat Lads then
hit back with a 13-0 run to close the quarter.

Luke Richardson opened the scoring in the second period, converting a three-point play before Fat Lads stretched the lead out to 22-11.

Birdsall and Steve Lawes then helped Worksop back into the game with a number of free throws to cut the deficit to 22-28 at half-time.

Two three-pointers from Birdsall quickly brought Worksop back on level terms at the start of the third period and the Fat Lads began to get into foul trouble.

This meant more free throws and a number of uncontested shots allowed Worksop to stretch the lead to 40-34 at the final break.

Two threes from Sophie Madeley kept Worksop in front in the final period until Fat Lads tied the game at 48-48 with two minutes to go.

A Richardson jump shot put Worksop back in front and two free throws from Madeley helped them to hang on in a frenetic final minute.

Worksop's top scorers: Birdsall 19, Lawes 17 and Madeley 11.
