WORKSOP landed their first ever silverware this week as they defeated Ossett Blues to lift the Sheffield Basketball League Plate.
Worksop appeared to have narrowly missed out on a place in the final until their closest rivals Chesterfield failed to field a side in their last pool match, allowing Worksop in through the 'back door'.

The first half of the final at the English Institute of Sport was a tense and low-scoring affair with Worksop edging it 19-18.

The second half belonged to Worksop though as they took control of the game and stormed to a 55-30 victory.

Player coach Steve Lawes was full of praise for the team.

He said: "We've worked hard all season and this is a well deserved reward for the efforts of the players and everyone involved in the club."
