WELL-KNOWN Edwinstowe councillor and businessman John Faben has died suddenly from a suspected heart attack at the age of 81.
Coun Faben, who was until recently chairman of the parish council, was also the founder and chairman of the Edwinstowe Chamber of Trade.

In addition, he was an independent member on Newark & Sherwood District Council and this week his colleague of 20 years, Coun Pam Bird, paid tribute to the popular figure –– saying he would be 'dearly missed' by many in the village.

"I'm very upset about it because John and I worked together for a number for years," she said. "He was a true man of Edwinstowe. He worked very hard for the village and everyone in it –– he is going to be dearly missed by lots of people.

"His first thoughts were always Edwinstowe and his family."
