UP to 77 houses could be built as part of a new residential development in Bilsthorpe, it has emerged this week.
Plans by Noble Foods Ltd to demolish the existing egg processing factory on The Moor, near Kirklington Road, and build the housing complex were submitted to Newark & Sherwood District Council this week.

The development includes a small lake, associated road planning, landscaping and is currently under consideration by the council's planning officers.

A statement on the application form by Noble Food Ltd says the development is appropriate for its existing surroundings and will contribute to the quality of the area.

"The existing buildings and activities at the site are of a low grade and detract significantly in terms of environmental quality and general amenity," it states.

"The removal of those buildings and operations from the site and redevelopment with a high quality residential scheme would, in our view, reduce the visual impact of development on the site.

"A much more pleasant and green, open environment would result."

A public consultation period has now expired but anyone wishing to raise any issues they may have with the proposal should email planning@nsdc.info.
