I TOOK a stroll out into the wilds of Clarborough this fine sunny Sunday, along the canal towpath into Retford.
Sounds great, eh? Except all I can remember of it is (a) the scummy brown water full of abandoned Pot Noodle cartons (b) Sunblest wrappers stuffed into the hedges and (c) piles of dog muck every two yards.
You wonder why anybody bothers trying to preserve amenities like our lovely canal when the great unwashed treat it with such contempt.
Narrowboaters, anglers, dog walkers... have none of them any respect for their surroundings?
And what's more, why is nobody clearing it up?
