Bassetlaw Lib Dems welcome our MP, John Mann, joining in the campaign we started to get a proper bus station for Worksop.
Over the last 18 months we have been working to understand the reason why Worksop, alone of the larger towns in North Nottinghamshire, hasn’t had the facilities for bus users rebuilt or at least upgraded. We have written letters and talked to the different parties and tried to bring them together to make progress on this issue.
We decided that now was the time to put pressure on the district and county councils to do more than make vague promises so we have set up a petition to show them that the people of Worksop are fed up with waiting.
Days after we launched the petition, what do we see but John Mann doing the same. We don’t see this as competition but Mr Mann using his bigger organisation to join in our campaign and we welcome this, even if it has taken him a long time to realise the needs of the town.
We are also planning a public meeting to show the councils and Stagecoach that they need to do something about the disgrace of a bus station.
WE have invited John Mann and representatives of the two councils and Stagecoach to attend as well.
It will be on Saturday March 24th at 1:30pm in The Salvation Army Hall on Newcastle Street, Worksop and we look forward to seeing many of you there. If you can’t make it, then sign our petition at http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/page1998.
