BRASS band music will be alive in Creswell for years to come following the formation of Creswell Community Brass Band.

Young people have signed up in droves after showing an interest through a village survey in learning to play an instrument.

Instruments were donated by Bolsover Council and music teacher Andrew Sharpe has been hired to teach the youngsters to play.

Now, the band has unveiled a swish new image, with band ties produced by Elmton with Creswell Parish Council, and music stand banners paid for by Bolsover Council.

“At the parish council we are delighted with the band’s progress,” said Coun Duncan McGregor.

“This project will preserve the long history and heritage of brass band music in Creswell.”

With the band now preparing for their inaugural concert at Easter, Coun McGregor appealed for new members to get in touch.

It is open to all and instruments and tuition are free. Contact Coun McGregor on 01909 721505.
