World wide wedding for Worksop couple

WHEN Texan bride Amanda married her Worksop husband Andrew this year there was one small hitch - her mum was terrified of flying.

But thanks to a new live broadcast service at Worksop’s Register Office, mum Debra McCurdy was able to enjoy the couple’s special day from the comfort of her own home in Mesquite, Texas.

Andrew and Amanda Fisher were married at Worksop's Register Office and were one of the first to have their wedding broadcast on the net. Amanda is American and it meant her mum, who has a phobia of flying, could watch the wedding from her Texas home. Pictured is Amanda and Andrew Fisher with the laptop used to broadcast the wedding.

Proud mum Debra was even able to take photographs of the ceremony using the Skype connection - even though she was more than 4,600 miles away.
