Worksop: Wilko’s worker completes 24 hour walking challenge

Ryan Parr, assisant store manager of the Wilko’s Head Office store in Worksop has helped raise £2,5000 after completing a 24 hour walk in aid of Maggie’s Centres.

On Wednesday, Ryan set off on his challenege along with six other Wilko team members. They managed to cross the finish line at the Maggie’s centre in Nottingham after completing the gruelling 64 mile journey from Manchester.

The team were met at the conclusion of their venture by cheering, family and team members from the charity.

Maggie’s Centres provide free, practical and social support for people with cancer.

Ryan said: “Although the challenge was really tough, we all had such a fun time completing it. We were so chuffed when we crossed the finish in time.”

“I’m delighted we managed to hit our fundraising target of £2,500. It was fantastic to be able to raise money for Maggie’s Centres, our regional charity of the year.”

Kate Martin, centre head at Maggie’s Nottingham, said: “The team did a brilliant job and we couldn;t be happier they actually completed the 24 hour challenge, it certainly wasn’t easy!”

“The money raised will go towards continuing to provide cancer care services. On behalf of everyone at Maggie’s Centres, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Wilko team.”
