A Worksop couple who got engaged on a leap year last month are through to the finals of charity contest to win a £25,000 wedding.

Dane West, 21, and Rachel Darby, 20, have beaten stiff competition from 14 couples to join four other wedding hopefuls to win the prize.

They must raise as much money as possible by Sunday 18th March for South Yorkshire charity Cash For Kids.

Rachel said they are delighted to have made it through to the final and urged people to support a fantastic charity.

“It’s a great cause that helps save many children’s lives, and has also helped out many other charities in the past including Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Children’s Cancer Trust,” she said.

“We’re also the only couple in the final to come from Worksop - so please get behind us and support us!”

Head to Splashes Car Wash on Turner Road from 11am-2pm on Wednesday 14th March for a girls car wash.

Or see some blood sweat and tears in Tesco’s on Gateford Road from 10.30am on Thursday 15th March when they do an all-day spinathon.

The couple will also be holding a special charity event from 7pm at the Cricket Club, Wickersley, on Friday 16th March. Entry is £3 a ticket in advance or £4 on the door.
