Worksop stargazer captures Perseid meteor on camera

Guardian reader and stargazer Steve Page captured this breathtaking photograph of a Perseid meteor streaking across the sky in Carlton-in-Lindrick in the early hours of Tuesday (August 11th).

The ‘shooting star’ appeared at around 3am and occurred as a result of material falling from the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle.

“I was very happy with how the picture turned out,” said Steve, who spent hours trying to get the perfect shot of the meteor along with the milky way.
