School teachers, firefighters, carers and others have stayed away from work on Thursday 10th July - in what trade union members are calling the biggest strike since 2011.

The main dispute surrounds pay for most of the union members, with many public sector workers having had their pay frozen since 2010.

Pensions and workload are other issues why employees have walked out.

Teachers at Sir Edmund Hillary Primary and St Augustines Primary School in Worksop and Ordsall Primary School in Retford have all joined in the strike.

Fire Brigades Union members at Worksop and Retford Fire Stations have also took strike action, although emergency 999 calls are being dealt with by contingency crews.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue firefighters are on strike between 10am and 7pm over changes to their pensions.
