Worksop: Opticians sprint to victory in aid of local hospice

A Worksop opticians has raised vital funds for a local children’s hospice by taking part in the Rother Valley Colour Dash.

Staff members Laura Boddice, Ceri Preston, Liz Powice and Moira Cotter, all took part in the colourful event, which took place May 3rd in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The team of ladies, from the store on Bridge Street, raised £270 for the charity, which offers care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their own homes and at the hospice in North Anston.

Richard Bevan, store director at Specsavers in Worksop, said: “Everyone at the store is really proud of Laura, Ceri, Liz and Moira for taking on the Rother Valley Colour Dash. It’s brilliant that they raised £270 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which provides vital care for seriously ill children from across the region.”

“The girls had a great time taking part in the race and are planning to take part again next year to try and better their fundraising total. The hospice is our chosen charity partner for 2014 and we look forward to raising further fund for this worthwhile cause over the coming months.”
