Worksop: Neil going to greater lengths to show appreciation to Bassetlaw Hospice

Mr Stocken is planning the jump at RAF Langar, Nottingham, in a bid to conquer his fear of heights - something he describes as a ‘huge personal challenge.’

The jump, though, will have a much more personal meaning on the day.

The 43-year-old has decided to do the jump to celebrate his Dad, Ray, reaching his 80th birthday.

His father received care at Bassetlaw Hospice between 1994-1997 when he was diagnosed with lung cancer and Mr Stocken and the family are using the jump to show how truly grateful they are for the help they received.

“I wanted to do something to celebrate Dad’s milestone and thought what better way than to do something mad to raise funds for the charity that helped him so much when he needed it,” Mr Stocken, who was born and raised in Worksop said.”

“I am terrified of heights so it’s also a huge personal challenge for me! Hopefully I’ll be able to pull it off!’

Helen Eshelby, Fund Raising and Events Co-ordinator for the Hospice, added: “We are extremely grateful to Neil for pushing himself in this way to raise funds for the Hospice and wish him all the best. We are always keen to hear from anyone who wants to raise funds for the Hospice and it amazes us the lengths to which people will go to help.”
