Worksop: Man air-lifted to hospital after getting hand caught in industrial saw

A man had to be air-lifted to hospital after a getting his hand caught in a saw in an industrial accident.

The incident happened at Lindrick Construction on the Claylands Avenue industrial estate last Friday afternoon (9th May).

According to eye-witness reports the man, named locally as Daniel Baker, was badly injured when his hand became caught in a saw while working.

His fellow workers immediately raised the alarm and the Lincolnshire & Notts Air Ambulance was called.

It landed in a nearby field to the site before taking the man straight to hospital in Derby.

A spokesman for the Air Ambulance confirmed the details.

“We attended the scene at 4:31pm and treated someone who had injured their hand whilst using some kind of saw,” said a service spokesman.

“We flew them to the Derby Royal Infirmary as they are hand injury specialists.”

“Flying time from the scene of the incident to the hospital was 19 minutes.”

An investigation into the cause of the accident is now underway.

No-one from the company was willing to comment on the incident at this stage and they confirmed that would remain the case until all investigations had been completed.
