A Worksop slimming expert says people on diets do not need to go without their facourite takeaways when trying to lose weight.
Instead, says Jules Dobson, slimmers should simply swap the takeaway for the fakeaway and make their own versions of takeaway favourites at home.
A recent survey by Slimming World found that 82 per cent of dieters expected to have to give up takeaway food completely in order to lose weight.
However, simply by switching to homemade versions of takeaway favourites, Jules, who runs seven Slimming World classes at St Joseph’s Catholic Social Club, says people can lose weight without having to give up food their love.
“When people think about dieting they think about feeling deprived – going hungry and missing out,” she said.
“However at Slimming World, we know from our 45 years of experience of helping people to lose weight and keep it off, that’s not the best way to lose weight.”
“Naturally, most of us are rebels and the moment we’re prevented from having something we end up wanting it even more.”
“The important thing is not to be too strict on yourself and find a healthy eating plan that you can sustain in the long-term and get support to cope with any challenges – like a takeaway you just can’t resist.”
Jules has recently launched Slimming World’s new Fakeaways recipe book at her Worksop classes and they are proving a big hit with members.
“Lots of the members in the St Joseph’s group are replacing the takeaways they used to have with healthy home-cooked versions of the same meals,” she continued.
“Every week in group we swap recipes and food ideas, often talking about the different meals we’ve tried that week, and fakeaways are definitely a big hit the whole family.”
“Really popular ones at the moment are donner kebabs and southern fried chicken.”
“Better yet, these fakeaways are much cheaper than the meals people used to order in for themselves and their families so members are not only losing weight and eating more healthily but saving money too – what’s not to love!”
Slimming World’s new Fakeaways book is on sale in all Slimming World groups, including the Worksop group, which meets at St Joseph Catholic Social Club on Tuesdays at 9.30am, 11.30am. 5.30pm and 7.30pm, and Thursdays at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
