The Royal British Legion has announced it is planning a second major event in Worksop this year.

The Festival of Remembrance is intended to take place at the North Notts Arena on Saturday, 25th October.

The Legion is already staging an event in Worksop Market Place on 4th August when they will mark the date Britain officially entered World War One.

And remembering the fallen men and servicewomen of not just that conflict, but all subsequent conflicts the British Armed Forces will have been, or are still, involved with, will be a central theme of the events on 25th October.

And, as with the event in August, the Legion wants the whole community to be involved.

In that way, not only will they be supporting the event and the town, they will be supporting Legion and particularly the Worksop branch, which the Guardian is leading a campaign for to help prevent from closing.

“The are several aims of our Festival of Remembrance,” said Elaine Hopkins, regional fund-raiser for the Legion.

“We want to provide an opportunity to remember the fallen servicemen and women in all conflicts.”

“We will also use the event to launch the 2014 Poppy Appeal.”

“This event is also special as it comes in the 100th anniversary year of the start of the First World War and again, we want to reflect on that.”

“The event will also promote the work of the Royal British Legion in Worksop and raise funds for Legion.”

“As with the event in August, we want to involve all local residents and community groups, particularly those with family connections to World War One.”

“We are also appealing for people or companies to help support this venture financially through sponsorship or paying for an advert in the programme.”

“As it is a family event we are planning on keeping the ticket prices reasonable so all can attend.”

Tickets are expected to be priced at £6.50 each or £15.00 for a family ticket of up to two adults and two children.

Details of when and where tickets will be available from will be released shortly.
