Most brides only get to wear their wedding dress once. But these Worksop women want you to give yours another outing - for charity.
Lynsey Hadfield, 29, is throwing a ‘Something Old, Something New Ball’ at North Notts Arena on Friday 16th May.
“We want people to have a memorable evening wearing their wedding dress bridesmaid dress, or any outfit you’ve work for a special occasion,” said Lynsey, who is expecting her first baby in July, and will don a hired wedding dress in true ‘shotgun’ style.
“It’s not just for women - men can wear their best suits or even a dress if they want to.”
The extravagant event is in aid of the MS Society. They supported Lynsey and her family when they lost her mum, Julie Groom, in February after 10 years with the neurological condition.
“Mum was the most independent, positive person,” said Lynsey, of Lillee Court.
“The MS Society was amazing with support and helping us understand this condition.”
“Mum hid it from people and no-one really knew she struggled. She gave us so much strength because she never moaned or grumbled. As far as she was concerned she never had an illness. She was going to beat it.”
Local band The Heroes will take to the stage on 16th May to perform everything from The Kaiser Chiefs to Bryan Adams, followed by a disco til late.
“It will be a brilliant night and I hope people will come and support this great cause,” said Lynsey.
“Our wedding photographer and videographer, Zten, from Carlton is donating his time to do event photos on the night to help raise money for the charity. He did our wedding photos and offered his services when he heard about the ball.”
“We are still appealing for local businesses to donate for our raffle which will be held on the night, so please get in touch if you can help in any way.”
“I must also say a big thanks to my friends who have organised this with me from just a seed of an idea.”
Tickets for the ball priced £15 are available from North Notts Arena on Eastgate. The evening starts at 7pm.
