Worksop Lions Club presents the Band Concert on Saturday 13th October in support of Help for Heroes and Worksop Lion Charities.

The Guardian has joined up with the Worksop Lions Club to offer two lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets.

The concert, held at North Notts Arena, on Eastgate, is back by popular demand said club president Bill Maddison.

“People can look forward to a varied show from the Doncaster Band and the The Notts Band of the Royal Engineers (Volunteers),” he said.

“Towards the end of the concert the tunes will include plenty of sing-alongs like Land of Hope and Glory which everyone can join in with.”

“It is quite a special occasion because it is the only time the two bands play together.”

“And it makes for a very rousing occasion.”

Doncaster Concert Band had their debut concert back in 1994 and have since developed into a successful group of talented musicians performing regularly at both indoor and outdoor events.

Director of The Notts Band of the Royal Engineers (Volunteers), Simon, has been a professional music director of brass bands, wind bands and choirs since 1991 and commenced their musical and military activities in July 2007.

With years of experience from both bands, you’ll be tapping along to the music of the brass bands and staring in awe at the fantastic conductors.

Bill said: “Everybody always says how much they enjoy it. It is much more than just a brass band show, these are concert bands and the sound is incredibly powerful.”

“The first year we held the concert on the night when all the bonfires were happening, and the Royal Engineers band said playing to the sound of fireworks took them back to when they were on the front line.”

Not only are the audience guaranteed a wonderful evening but they will also be helping two very prestigious charities.

Bill said Worksop Lions Charities concentrates on helping those in the community who are less fortunate.

Pop into the Arena where tickets are currently on sale or call the box office on 01909 480164.

Tickets are £10. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show will start at 7.30pm.
