Hundreds of Nottinghamshire residents were awoken in the early hours of the morning as an intense storm rocked the county.

Spectacular displays of lightning, rumbles of thunder and heavy downpours were seen and heard for about an hour from 2.30am.

The dramatic weather followed above-average temperatures yesterday.

Tonight it will be staying dry throughout the night, with light winds and some long clear spells, particularly in the early hours of Sunday. Minimum Temperature 14°C.

On Sunday it will be dry with sunny spells for much of the day. Heavy thundery showers will develop in the late afternoon, clearing during the evening. Winds mainly light, but gusty in heavy showers. Maximum Temperature 23°C.
