Fresh from its latest critically-acclaimed West End run, directed by Kylie Minogue’s creative director William Baker, with songs especially composed by Boy George and as featured on London Live TV, Viva la Drag is coming to Lincoln.

Producer Michael Taylor, who created hit touring shows the Magic of Motown and An Evening of Burlesque, says his brand-new show Viva la Drag is a stage show with real musical pedigree.

Michael said: “As well as the Kylie connection and Boy George’s involvement it also stars Sam Buttery of BBC1’s The Voice and benefits from musical direction from the songwriter of number one hits by the Sugarbabes, Emma Bunton and Kylie.”

Michael says that choreography is by Ashley Wallen, whose credits include Ghost the Musical in the West End and Rent at the Duke of York’s Theatre.

He added: “And vocals are by the arranger to Girls Aloud and Danni Minogue while costumes are the brainchild of the designer for Kylie’s famed world tours.”

Michael says that Viva la Drag! is the exciting, latest evolution of British theatregoers’ fascination with drag.

Featuring hit songs such as Glee-style mash-ups of hit songs like Single Ladies, Baby Love, Car Wash, Rolling in the Deep, I’m Every Woman, Crazy in Love, Diamonds, We Are Family, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy has seen the production become an instant hit for girls’ nights out.

The plot of Viva la Drag charts the rise from rags to the queens of drag of the Supreme Fabulettes, a close harmony group. with a difference.

The “girl” group’s razor-tongued manager, played by Miss Sheila Simmonds, navigates band splits and solo hits, against a backdrop of backstabbing, love and tears played for laughs by four of the UK’s top drag artistes: Vicki Vivacious, Vanilla Lush, Portia De Fosse and Silver Summers.

Theatre goers are advised that the content of the show is suitable for over-16s.

Viva la Drag is at the Lincoln Theatre Royal on Thursday 9th October at 7.45pm.

Tickets are £23 and available from the box office on 01522 519999.
