Ambitous plans surrounding the purchase of land for Worksop’s new bus station were discussed at a meeting held by Notts County Council.

Based on a report from the Service Director of Transport, Property and Environment, the meeting looked at the acquisition of land adjacent to Newcastle Street and Watson Road, Worksop, for the futuristic new station.

The station is expected to cost in the region of £3.2 million, and a planning application will be submitted in June.

The proposed scheme involves utilising part of the Queen Street public car park, which is in the ownership of Bassetlaw Council.

The plan also involves the purchase of two parcels of land in private ownership in order to assemble the whole site.

The area of 30-34 Watson Road, was acquired for the project in July 2012, and the remaining property on the corner of Newcastle Street and Watson Road is occupied by a florist business and by several advertising hoardings.
