TRIBUTES have been paid to a Worksop man who died after being hit by a car on Friday night.

Trevor Sprigg, 50, suffered extensive internal injuries and was later pronounced dead at Bassetlaw Hospital.

He was hit by a Vauxhall Vectra on Blyth Road near the hospital at around 10.20pm.

The driver of the car, a local man, was not hurt.

This weekend Trevor’s uncles Dennis and Kenny Sprigg said they were shocked and saddened by the news.

“We don’t yet know exactly what happened. We’ve heard he might have gone across the road to buy some cigarettes,” said Dennis.

“Trevor had been a patient at Bassetlaw Hospital for quite some time.”

Kenny said: “It’s such a shock. You just don’t expect this sort of thing to happen.”

Dennis added: “Our thoughts are also with the driver. We have no bad feelings towards him and we hope he can move on with his life.”

A police spokesman said no arrests had been made, and the driver was not under any suspicion.

Police investigations continue into the cause of the accident.

Anyone with information or who saw what happened should call Notts Police on 0300 300 999 extension 8162225.
