PUPILs at Sir Edmund Hillary Primary School are on top of the world after their school was given a prestigious award.
The International School Award is given by the British Council to schools who effectively bring the wider world into their teaching.
Sir Edmund Hillary is twinned with schools in Spain, Nepal, Chile and the USA, which head teacher Simon Tollervey says helps the children be part of the global community.
“This award reflects the continuous efforts of everyone associated with the school in helping our young people become global citizens,” he said.
“By celebrating our culture and customs and gaining an insight, understanding of and respect for those of others.”
