Teen cancer patient’s video raises cash for Rotherham hospice

A brave teenager who lost her battle with cancer has captured the public’s attention through a video she filmed from her hospital bed.

Fourteen-year-old Emmie Bennett-Price videoed herself miming to Ed Sheeran’s ‘Drunk’ song in hospital while undergoing chemotherapy, before losing her fight with the disease.

The footage has become an instant YouTube hit and is now raising funds for Bluebell Children’s Hospice in North Anston where Emmie spent her final days with her family.

Emma Vizor, fundraiser at the hospice, said: “Emmie was such a beautiful, fun loving young lady and this video really shows her sense of humour.

“It’s great that so many people have watched it already and have donated to the hospice.”

Emmie, from Worksop, was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2013, which was discovered after she fractured her shoulder doing a cartwheel at school.

After undergoing physiotherapy for the fracture a lump appeared on her arm the size of an egg and scans later revealed it was a cancerous sarcoma.

The plucky young schoolgirl, who attended Wales High School, near Rotherham, underwent two lots of chemotherapy and radiotherapy but died in July.

One of Emmie’s last wishes was to become a YouTube star, which led her family to post her video online.

As well as fulfilling Emmie’s last wish, her relatives are asking supporters to donate to Bluebell Hospice after watching her video, which has already had more than 4,000 hits.

Emmie’s mum Katie Bennett said: “This video is typical Emmie, always upbeat and entertaining even when she felt so ill.”
