Art and Design students from Rotherham College are being given the opportunity to enhance patients’, visitors’ and staff experience on the Orthopaedic Wards and Clinics at Rotherham Hospital.

The Level 2 First Diploma students from the College are having some of their artwork displayed in Rotherham Hospital - in particular on the Keppel Orthopaedic Ward and the ward’s large dining room.

The students will receive contributions from the Rotherham Health Foundation (Rotherham Hospital Charity) for their canvasses and their artwork will be displayed for a year and then sold to raise funds for the Trust’s charity.

The partnership between TRFT and Rotherham College was initiated by Lee White, Ward Charge Nurse for Orthopaedics, with an aim to brighten up and enrich the environment for the benefit of the patients, relatives and staff, and to showcase the wonderful talent that we have in the local area.

Lee said: “I wanted to try and brighten up our fracture and orthopaedic clinics, as the walls are plain and the only artwork we have is very old. When we viewed the artwork, the standard was so high that we decided to take even more and will have enough to distribute throughout the entire hospital.

“We are very excited to be working in partnership with our local arts college and students. Their fantastic work will make a big difference to patient experience and we hope our partnership will continue for many years.”
