‘Shop and Drop’ sponsored abseil is taking place at the Bell Tower, Trafford Centre in Manchester on 20th September 2014. This awesome 197 foot abseil also allows fantastic views over Manchester, Peak District and Cheshire for those who take part.

Max Newton, community fundraiser for the Red Cross in Yorkshire said: “We want a team of crack Yorkshire daredevils to travel into the heart of Manchester and beat the Mancunians and Lancastrians at their own abseil.”

“Let’s prove Yorkshire folk are the most daring and the most up for doing something crazy for a fantastic cause.”

Jodie Bromley from Pontefract, completed the abseil for British Red Cross in 2012 said: “It was an fantastic experience- standing at the top, surveying all of Lancashire one way and Yorkshire the other, and then stepping over the edge to start my descent. And then we went shopping in the Trafford Centre and I bought a new dress to celebrate!”

Max Newton added:“This a fantastic opportunity for people to conquer their fears safe in the knowledge that the money they raise will be saving lives and changing lives of people in whose lives have been devastated by crisis and disaster right here in the UK as well as across the world.”

Registration costs just £10 and participants are challenged to raise £100 for the Red Cross.

In return you secure your place in the abseil and receive expert fundraising advice, hints and tips, a comprehensive fundraising pack, certificate and medal.

You don’t need to have done anything like this before, the trained team running the abseil are amongst the most experienced and will ensure that you are fully trained before you go on the edge.
