Ladies from the Soroptimist International Club of the Dukeries welcomes summer with strawberry tea

Ladies from the Soroptimist International Club of the Dukeries hosted the first of their summer events when they held a strawberry tea.

Guests were treated to a superb selection of home made scones, cakes and locally picked strawberries.

A raffle, along with the sale of beautifully hand-crafted greetings cards, books and jams helped to make it a highly successful event.

An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, with a fantastic £275 being raised for worthy local charities.

The club holds regular dinner meetings at Ye Olde Bell at Barnby Moor near Retford, at which a series of fascinating talks are given on a diverse range of subjects.

Among other forthcoming activities, a trip to Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire is planned for this month.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.

For further information about the club in Bassetlaw and how you can get involved in the work carried out by these ladies, please contact Ginny on 01909 476192 or Denise on 01909 731689.

All newcomers are warmly welcome.
