celebrations were in order at the DEBRA charity shop in Worksop for its first birthday on 16th June.

Sarah Newton, assistant manager at the Bridge Place shop, said it meant a lot to celebrate the charity’s first year of trading in the town.

“Firstly we would like to thank all our regular customers for supporting us through their kind donations and purchases,” she said.

“However, to continue the success of the shop we need the help of generous and kind-hearted people to donate clothing, bric-a-brac, books, electrical items and furniture.”

The charity funds research into finding a cure for rare genetic condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which mainly affects children and causes the skin to blister at the slightest friction.

Sarah said the charity relies on the generosity of the public to carry out its vital work, improve lives and give hope.

“As a charity we do not have our own branded carrier bags - therefore we are always happy to accept bags to recycle,” she said.

“We have our own van and driver who will collect and deliver to all areas - just call the shop between 9am and 5pm Monday to Saturday for a quick response.”

The shop also offers house clearances, and welcomes new volunteers of all ages.

Anyone who is interested in helping out, particularly on Wednesday mornings and Friday mornings and afternoons, should pop into the shop and speak to Sarah Newton or Carol Hughes.
