SANTA’S sleigh ride around the area raised more than £2,000 for Worksop groups – despite the adverse winter weather.

The sleigh was restricted to six nights and just one day at Tesco’s due to the snow and bad road conditions.

Worksop Lions said they were sorry to all those Santa was unable to visit. Bill Madison said: “We apologise to all the kids that didn’t get chance to see Santa this year.”

“We lost a complete week, I was going out in my car everyday to see if the route was accessible.”

The total of £2,310 will be sliced up between the Sea Cadets, Priory Youth, Worksop Town Supporters’ Group, Shireoaks Carnival Group and the Adventure Scouts, as well as benefiting Lions charities.
