RotherFed celebrates its 10th anniversary

Forty people helped Rotherham Federation of Communities (RotherFed) celebrate its 10-year anniversary at its Annual General Meeting at Springwell Gardens Community Centre.

At the meeting, David Richmond, Assistant Director of Housing, asset management and neighbourhood services from Rotherham Council, announced RotherFed’s success in being awarded a contract to deliver Tenant Federation services to council tenants and TARAs for a minimum of two years.

Steve Ruffle, chief executive officer at the council, also announced RotherFed’s success in receiving lottery funding to support community organising in some of our poorest communities over the next 31 months.

A special award for RotherFed volunteer of the year was presented to Paul Greenway for his work supporting the Federation and the events it has held during the last year.

Two new people were appointed to the Board of RotherFed trustees – Rozwana Begum and David Ramsden.

A number of people who came to celebrate had also attended the first AGM in 2006.

A special 10th anniversary cake was made and photos adorned the room of RotherFed events and activities during the last decade.

An auction and a raffle held during the afternoon raised £303 for the Stroke Association, in memory of Cath Wright an active supporter of the Federation.
